IRI - Integrative Research Institutes
The new top-level format of Integrative Research Institutes lies in the center of HU's Institutional Strategy. The conduct research on the interface of disciplines and are situated at important focus areas of the university.
The ongoing development of the IRI research format is one of the priorities of Humboldt-Universität’s Institutional Strategy. IRIs allow outstanding researchers from different disciplines to collaborate on and further the development of a research field in which the University strives to international leadership. In addition to their potential for academic innovation, IRIs also have a structural impact on the University’s governance and create new models of academic collaboration beyond the boundaries of individual disciplines.
As interdisciplinary institutes, IRIs promote intra-university collaboration with a strong research focus and thus play a decisive role in profile-building at the University. At the same time, by encouraging close collaboration between research partners, IRIs are a means of exploiting potential at the interface of university and non-university research and of developing collaborative research at Humboldt-Universität over the long term.
