CvH-International Research Award (InRA)

As part of the Caroline von Humboldt programme, Humboldt-Universität (HU) will provide International Research Awards starting from 1 April 2018 to allow excellent female PhD and PostDoc students of HU to conduct research at particularly renowned universities abroad and thus to foster empowerment, which is important for a career in academia, and to help them to establish and expand their academic network.

Who can apply?

Excellent female PhDs, PostDocs as well as Juniorprofessors at HU who wish to conduct research for their PhD at an international university that is particularly renowned in their field.

The grant

The International Research Award provides recipients with € 1,750 a month. It also covers travel expenses and childcare costs. It is usually awarded for six months, but may be extended to a maximum of nine months.

 

Application procedure

Applications for an International Research Award should be submitted to the office of the Commission on the Advancement of Women (KFF), that is in charge of the funding decisions. Applications must contain the following: 

  1. An application letter (explaining why you are applying for funding and, if relevant, providing information on your particular personal/family circumstances or voluntary work)
  2. A completed application form  word - pdf
  3. A concept paper (max. 3,000 characters) that explains the usefulness of the research stay for your PhD
  4. Certificates and academic CV
  5. A letter of recommendation from your PhD supervisor (refer to link Templates: letter of recommendation)
  6. A declaration by the host institution
  7. A signed target agreement between you and your supervisor acc. to the guidelines of the doctoral program culture of the HU is recommended

 

Your PhD may be on any subject. The KFF will reach its decision primarily on the basis of the letter of recommendation and the applicant’s project description.

The current application’s deadline is 20 December 2018. The start of the funding will, whenever possible, meet the recipients’ individual needs and circumstances. However, funding cannot be provided before 1 October 2018. Please send your application with all relevant documents by e-mail only to frbfoerd@hu-berlin.de.
