Clusters of Excellence
Clusters of Excellence are cooperations that bring researchers from different disciplines together to work on a promising topic. The aim is to promote top-level research in fields where universities already have proven strengths or which they specifically wish to develop over the medium term. By promoting competitiveness and prioritisation in a university, Clusters of Excellence establish competitive research and educational fields with high international profiles. The funding for a single cluster amounts to between €3 and €8 million per year.
